Top 5 Reasons Why Blogs Die Out
According to surveys 50% of the blogs on the internet die out after the completion of their first 3 months or perhaps even less than that. I have evidence of some very good blogs that may have become a great hit but died out due to one of the reasons I’ll talk about. Let’s face it, everyone cannot be a very successful blogger but then again everyone can be a partly successful blogger. Majority of the blogs that die out completely are those which are running on self-hosting packages like wordpress, while those using free hosted blogs like blogger are usually abandoned forever. Lets see why most blogs on the Internet die out.
#1 - No proper planning
This is the most important reasons why blogs meet great failure. If you start a blog make sure you have planning behind it for at least the first 6 months, so that after two weeks you don’t run here and there, banging your head on the PC in confusion for not knowing what to do next. This usually ends up in frustration and then you don’t blog because you don’t know what to do next.
#2 - Lack of content
Well this is a very common problem faced by even the most professional bloggers, new bloggers usually write each and every good thing on their mind in the first week of their blog’s launch and then BAM, now what to do? No content means no traffic, and that means complete doom. What you should know is how to handle this problem, I have also faced this problem but now I know what to do about it and I’ll let you’ll know about how to deal with that.
#3 - Very High Expectations
People usually make blogs thinking to be the next John chow or Problogger, but that’s not the case with every blogger on the Net. Although it’s not bad to have such goals to achieve success, but we should also not get frustrated if we don’t get traffic, RSS subscribers or advertisers as that of famous blogs. Although we know that our blog needs traffic and there are hundreds of ways to get traffic, people usually choose the wrong way in which traffic does not last long and they get frustrated when their hard work does not show up.
#4 - Little Earnings
If someone thinks he can earn $200 or more off his blog in the first month then let me notify you, you are wrongly mistaken. Big bloggers did make some money in their first months but that was because even before monetizing their blogs, they had been receieving a lot of traffic and the blogs had existed for a long time before that and were well-known. So that cuts out the process of getting traffic which may not be quite reliable for newer blogs. When people don’t earn $1000’s after a month or two they think all the ‘Make Money Online’ thing is fake.
#5 - Loss of Interest
In the beginning of new blogs people usually blog with great enthusiasm, which probably continues for about 3 months. Then they loose the spirit and don’t get time to blog, in the end abandon their blogs and loose interest in something they once considered as ‘Totally Cool!’. They don’t blog for fun which I consider the number 1 rule of blogging.
So if you’re a new blogger or are going to be a blogger, make sure are aware of these things before hand so that your blog is not one of those blogs which die out in their initial phase. I will also tell how to overcome these problems easily and save the life of your blog, to stay updated you can subscribe to the blog by mail.

Loss of interest is the most common. I don’t think that anyone could have go on if they aren’t earning a few bucks after 3 months.

A proper planning is the most important, because without it the other reasons will preasure very quickly and … die.

A really good post. I think every blogger should bookmark it and look to it from time to time… It point about content depletion and loss of interest is what I think most important.
But if we plan ahead as mentioned in point no 1, we can avoid problems later.

Another basic mistake that i have seen among ameture bloggers is that they try to maintain 2-3 blogs at the same time. They think that by running more blogs equals more money, which is not always the case. Unless you wont give proper time to each you are bound to fail.
