Ping Blog Directories after writing an ArticleWritten by Abdulrehman on June 19th, 2008
You have to submit your website to search engines if you want to get indexed by them and want to be included in search results, however to be included in blog directories you have to ping them, probably after you post an article. Actually every time you ping a blog directory your blog is updated and they crawl your website, and any new article on your website would be included on their directory. There are many blog directories that you might want to ping including Technorati, Icerocket, etc.
By now you must be thinking that why I am telling you to ping your blog. Well, the obvious reason being that it will increase your blog’s traffic as well as it will increase your blog’s popularity, which is most important. Since your blog would be fully updated on blog directories which are used by millions of people, your blog will have more chances of being included in relevant searches and the related category of the directory like Business, Internet, etc.
It is always best to ping as many blog directories as possible, that is because it is completely free and you never know that which blog directory might just work out for you, why lose such a chance? I normally ping over 50 blog directories, but if you’re thinking that you have to ping each directory manually, then you’re wrong. In fact that would take up about 30 minutes while just pinging blog directories. You can make use of pinging services which just ask you your blog’s name, web address and feed address, after this you choose from a list of blog directories that you want to ping. I always check all of them, and then just submit it and in seconds most web directories would be pinged with your blog’s information. I would recommend you to use Pingoat, which gives a service to ping about 50 blog directories, including special and non-English directories. So whenever you write an article, just spend a few minutes to ping blog directories so that they are aware that you have written an article, it will really help sooner or later.
