Make Money on the Internet - Monetizing the Blog

Written by Abdulrehman on September 30th, 2008

I’ll be telling you now that how you can monetize your blog and it’s traffic. Basically this is how you start earning money by blogging, that is by displaying ads which is the most easiest and common way. However, if done in the right way it can help you earn a lot! There are many people earning more than $10,000 by displaying ads on their websites / blogs.

Using PPC Ad Networks

Basically, PPC stands for Pay-per-click. Advertisers pay the PPC Ad Network for getting visitors on their websites based on the number of clicks their ad gets. Their ad is displayed on the websites of the publishers and hence the publishers get paid per the number of clicks gone from their website to the websites of the advertisers. Before PPC Ad Networks emerged, usually private advertising was done. Like companies come to me and pay me money for displaying their ads on my website. But with PPC Ad Networks on the scene the number of advertisers has significantly increased as the process has been made so easy, as well as the number of publishers. In the past only really famous websites got advertisers, but now no matter how famous your website is, according to PPC Ad Networks your website is usually approved and you will earn according to the amount of traffic you get on your website.

As it is traffic which evolves into clicks. The system purely makes it easy and logical to earn money, you will not get a fixed rate advertising revenue per month, it can vary from $0 to a lot more than you could expect from it. This way the system becomes very fair and does not involve rate problems like in private advertising. Plus you can add/remove the ads anytime you want. The most famous and rated PPC Ad Networks for blogs are as follows:

  1. Google Adsense
  2. Bidvertiser
  3. Chitika
  4. Clicksor

These are those which work best with blogs, many more can be added but these are the best of them. There are different ad sizes with the most famous ones being 486×60 and 120×600/160×600 or maybe even 125×125 for small boxes. The ads can be with image or text. Many people argue that text ads get more clicks as compared to image ads, but I firmly believe that a good image ad is worth a hundred text ads. You have a choice to choose either Text-Ads only, Image Ads only, or both. So if you’re not sure you can choose the last option. However, where the main work stands is that how can you use make the maximum readers to click the ad and generate maximum revenue.

If you place the advertisement deep down the valley and expect to make money, you won’t make a single penny unless it pays you per impressions instead of clicks, but that pays very less like $0.3 per 1000 impressions. How you place the ad and how you make it either very unique on the page or make it blend in with the page, that matters most in getting clicks. The following image shows the regions on a page where you are most likely to get maximum clicks if you place the ad over there. The darkest areas are the best and the lightest are the worst.

It wont, I had my Adsense account cancelled for no reason! I have read stories and know that clicking our own ads is not good, but still I did not do any such thing!

  5. I’m beginning to see some success with adsense. I’ve experimented with my ad placement a bit and had good results with a block of text ads at the top of the post just below the title.
