How To Find A Money Making NicheWritten by Abdulrehman on April 22nd, 2009
Most people (including me) step into a niche and after blogging for more than 6 months they look for keywords in their niche. Eventually they end up with really sucky keywords which would hardly make them any money. So I’ll put this the other way round. How about finding awesome money making keywords first and then choosing your niche, makes more sense right?
It doesn’t matter whether you’re planning to make a niche site or a personal blog. But you should have some base that will ensure you sound money through out the period your website lives. However, the biggest mistakes that noobs make is that they choose keywords which either have no traffic, extremely high competition from big websites or have next to no money making perspectives.
So basically, this is where the right keywords come into play. Moreover, when you’re creating mutiple blogs or websites, you need good topics or shall I say any topic which gets traffic. Below is a step by step guide on how to find the big money makers niches easily.
Open the Keywords Tool
If you’re still unsure of which keyword tool to use, then it is obvious that you need to use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool which was mentioned earlier on my article on seo tools. Anyways, here is the link again and bookmark it because you’ll always need this one.
Enter Your Preferred Keywords
This is in a case where you already have some background in your mind about the niche and you want to check whether the idea is worth it or not. Just enter your preferred keywords (1 in each line) and hit ‘Get Keywords’ and you’ll get the idea of the monthly searches for each one of them. The screen shot below will help you better understand the process of finding niche keyword that will help you make money on the internet:

Finding A Niche
Well this is the golden bite here because this is how you’ll find random keywords which have a lot of traffic and great potential for making money. Unfortunately, you’ll have to go back to the Google Adwords Keywords Tool and this time you’ll select the radio button which says: ‘Website Content’ instead of the default: ‘Descriptive words or phrases’. Now this is the most important step, enter the web address of a website which has content changing frequently. I usually choose Ezine Articles or Yahoo! for this purpose. After you hit the ‘Get Keyword ideas’ button, random keywords will be selected from the page and they will be used individually to find similar keywords or synonyms.
So, basically you’ll go through the keyword and you’ll look for keywords which have good traffic. You’ll mostly find rather unusual keywords here, so pick any keywords you think will suit you, but don’t be dumb enough to pick a very short one like cell phone (In general), look for high trafficked long tail keywords. This process is further explained by the screen shot below:

Finding The Keywords That Help Make Money
Both methods above tell you how you can find niche keywords which are highly trafficked, but now comes the important part: Which keywords will make you the most money? While you might be thinking that the ones with the biggest search volume will be the most profitable, I don’t think that way.
My own theory is that since all keywords don’t have the same CPC (Cost per click) on Google, it can be used to determine the paying potential of the individual keywords. You look a little confused but there isn’t much to understand. Just learn how to do it and trust me it always works out the best. So on the drop-down box, select ‘Show Estimated Avg. CPC’. Once it comes out, just open an excel file.
Suppose you have selected 15 keywords and you want to choose the best 3 out of them. Here is what you do: Enter the names of the keywords in the first column, enter their Global Monthly Search volume in the second column and enter their ‘Estimated Avg. CPC’ in the third column. Now, for every row, multiply the value in the second column (Global Monthly Search volume) with the value in the third row (Estimated Avg. CPC) and put the corresponding answers into 4th column of the respective row.
That’s it, the ones with the highest values are the money making keywords you were looking for. Choose the top 3, and leave out the rest less important ones. That all explains how exactly you’ll find your money making niche and it’s corresponding keywords which will help you make the most money. This technique will help you in finding your niche which will make you a lot more money comparatively, I will also write an article telling why I asked you to mutiply the 2 values and then use the product to assess the keyword. Do share your experiences or thoughts with this technique.

Besides finding profitable keyword checking the competition is vitally important. Secondly you will want to make sure that you know where your content is going to come from. If you know nothing about the topic you will either have to spend time doing research or you will have to outsource it to a ghost writer. Both can work very well but one requires time and the other one money.

I just started learning to find profitable keywords recently and I’m using Good keywords software which is totally free as well. It includes a keyword suggestion tool and other features which I have not explore yet. I realized that the keywords are extracted from Google adwords as well.

I always used this tool before I started a niche blog, this is a very useful keyword research tool, the most important thing is..it’s FREE!
Between, after checking the CPC rate and search volume, go to google.com and type the keyword, check the competition volume as well.

This is a briefly explanation about keyword research, but you left out something, competition checking. Searching for profitable keyword is good, but you have to check on the competition as well, you’re hardly to rank well EASILY by optimizing the most competitive keyword compare to the least competitive 1. Anyway, nice tips.

I prefer to use other keyword research tools rather than the Google keyword tool. I prefer Market Samurai and Micro Niche Researcher. They are both great and are a lot more comprehensive than Google’s tool by itself.
