I have been unable to post recently because I have been long waiting to get a laptop, unfortunately I was not able to get one. So I gave away my old computer and got a new one which means my computer will never crash again when I put on heavy programs. Previously my computer was so out-dated that when I put on heavy programs like Adobe Photoshop, etc. my computer would take more than a 100 seconds just to start up the program and then I had to wait like a jerk while it loaded, although it did help me learn to be patient by wasting a lot of my time.
My previous computer was actually a Pentium 3 which my dad bought me in 2001, since then I was never too concerned to get a new one until it started giving me problems. It had a 933 MHZ processor, 128 MB RAM and 20 GB hard disk. A designing/developing professional can get no where with those specifications. So what I aimed for getting was at least 4 times the specifications of my previous computer. Now I have a Pentium 4 with a 2.4 GHZ processor, 512 MB RAM and 80 GB Hard Disk. I know that these specifications aren’t that much either and I should have gotten at least a core 2 duo. But to be very frank, I know I’m going to get a laptop sooner or later and I did not want to waste too much money on this computer. So these specifications are going well out for me so far.
Although I am thinking of adding another 1 GB to my RAM soon since there are 2 slots, so that will be a lot. If you’re thinking of getting a cheap computer, try to compile the whole computer yourself, when you buy the components separately they’ll be very cheap. Moreover, you’ll be able to build exactly the thing you need. Stick around and I’ll be explaining some basic components of the CPU to get started!
