3arn.Net was restarted on 28th May and yesterday my blog turned 7 months old, I am quite happy about it, especially about the achievements of the blog. Like many others, I did not have a huge list of goals, I was just blogging and these achievements were more of an inspiration or treat for the work I was putting in. I learned many things while getting my blog out of the sea and into the glass. I discovered how to do the same thing in different ways and how to choose the right way to save time and effort. I’ll be frank, I did not work hard at all, in fact blogging to make money is absolutely not about working hard, it’s about using your smartness to do the work! Some distinct achievements during these 7 months are:
- Blog moved from an Alexa ranking of somewhere in 2,000,000 to under 70,000.
- A total of 63,323 visitors(301 on average) and 174,870 page views (833 on average).
- In spite of switching feed once and losing 28 subscribers, presently there are 117 subscribers.
- The blog only went under one Page rank update which was very early for it, so a current page rank of 1.
- Technorati ranking starting from more than 200,000 to under 72,000.
As for myself, I was quite startled by the results of 7 months of blogging, and those stats sure raise a brow. Anyone looking for advertising can grab this golden opporunity since the ad rates have not been increased yet, you can advertise on 3arn.Net. Well, have a nice day because for me it is the time of celebration!
Update: The blog just went through a page rank update and now has a page rank of 2!

First of all, if you do not know what LHC is, then you must be living in a planet like Neptune because it has been on the ‘buzz’ on earth for a long time now. Anyways, The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, intended to collide opposing beams of protons or lead ions, each moving at approximately 99.999999% of the speed of light. It has a lot to do with Physics, and it’s operation would tell more about the unknown particle ‘Higgs Boson’ and the Standard Model.
As I was saying, the experiments in the Large Hadron Collider will produce about 15 petabytes of data per year, which will be distributed over the LHC Computing Grid. The LHC Computing Grid is a distribution network designed to handle the massive amount of data that will be produced by the Large Hadron Collider. The data stream from the detectors provides approximately 300 GB/s, which is filtered for ‘interesting events’, resulting in a “raw data” stream of about 300 MB/s.

300 MB/s is about 600 times my current internet speed, i.e. 512 KBps. With this you can download 37.5 MB every second and a movie for download would take only 19 seconds, you can imagine the storage yourself! I can think how many websites I could potentially block by over-loading their servers and I’d be more like a King of the Internet! This is only a little about the LHC Computing Grid, what would you do if you had such a huge network of data transfer?

iPhone 3G, Apple’s most recent release of the iPhone series has met real competition recently with the new release from Nokia, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic code-named ‘Tube’. Now this is certainly not for Apple Fans because what I’m going to talk about is something that is not might not be in favor of iPhone.
Since it’s release, iPhone has created a new vision in the world of cell-phones. the whole touch system and the applications drove millions of people crazy. But now, things are a bit different. Unlike the golden times for Apple, now nokia 5800 has proved that iPhone is not the only one in the game. Probably that’s the reason I thought of writing this Nokia 5800 Vs iPhone comparison. Overall, I personally think that Nokia 5800 has been built to counter the growing influence of iPhone and also add all the features that were recommended by Apple users, which now gives them a better choice. So here is a comparison table with features that each phone either supports of does not support:

| # |
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic |
Apple iPhone 3G |
| 1 |
Nokia’s XpressMusic series has been widely famous for its great music quality, plus nokia has also pushed in a new online music store, plus any XpressMusicc phone comes in with a 1 year subscription to download unlimited songs (with DRM). |
Apple’s online music store, iTunes has been a major player for their music advance, but their music qualities and online integration have made them really popular in terms of music. |
| 2 |
This cell phone comes in with a 3.2 Mega pixels camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and dual flash, this is quite enough for just a phone. |
The iPhone came in with just a 2 Megapixels camera and no Flash nor Carl Zeiss optics. |
| 3 |
It claims up to 35 hours of Music, and it is overall better either for voice, data and standby (about 15 to 30% more) |
It has up to 24 hours of Music, and other technical specifications regarding the Battery life are below Nokia 5800. |
| 4 |
It comes with a 8GB Micro SD Card, so this is definitely better because upgrading memory would be very cheap and easy. |
It comes in two forms, 8GB and 16GB internal. Although that is quite a lot but extending memory in any case is not possible. |
| 5 |
It has a 3.2″ screen with a resolution of 640×360, which means a higher resolution on relatively not so big screen. |
It has a 3.5″ screen with a resolution of 480 x 320, which means a small resolution on a big screen, not very impressive. |
| 6 |
It does not only offer finger touch but stylus and plectrum as well which gives us more choices on the Input method. |
It basically depends on personal taste as iPhone only offers finger touch as the input method. |
| 7 |
Video Recording is another common feature of a Nokia mobile. In addition you can record videos with the standard Nokia application and make video calls, something not yet possible on the iPhone. |
Although the iPhone is capable of playing some video formats some services have to be installed whereas they come pre-installed in nokia 5800. |
| 8 |
This is the best part, an unlocked Nokia 5800 XpressMusic costs $390 only, which is quite amazing compared to the features. |
Buying an iPhone involves some serious money, Since it is always bought with a contract, paying for the first month and then the cancellations fees and all, A single iPhone with all these costs included would cost you about $800, see the difference! |
I think that the results are very clear leading to one result, that until iPhone makes another release with more features Nokia 5800 is to stay on top, not only because of the slick features but also because it gave birth to a whole new concept to all of the cellular companies like Nokia to keep up with the generation. So after reading the iPhone Vs Nokia 5800 comparison, you still with iPhone 3G, or have you made a little change of mind?

A normal person like me, who sees the internet for the first time has no idea what a browser is and uses windows default browser Internet Explorer. In fact in my 7 years of online experience I have spent more than 60% using Internet Explorer. I sure knew about others as well, but had no interest in trying them out. But once I learned about more of them, I tried out the most famous one, ‘Firefox’.
Once I started using it I was like this thing is pretty fast. I knew at that time that Firefox is the best, and since then I have been using it, although I did try Chrome and Opera for a few weeks, but I believe that right now it is not in the position to compete with Firefox. Anyways according to me and the people, taking into consideration the favorites and usage, here are the top five browsers to date:
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer
- Apple safari
- Chrome
- Opera
Although this is the current usage, but in the mere future all I can expect is Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer in the top three. So let’s have a look at their current features and see what make them so popular:, below is web browser comparison
|
Name |
Released |
Usage |
Latest |
Future |
 |
Internet Explorer |
1995 |
72.22% |
IE 8 |
Since windows is in charge of handling about 3/4th of the internet users, they have very less chances of getting off the top. More over, most people buy computers with windows in it and mostly they are only fortunate enough to use IE. |
 |
Mozilla Firefox |
2004 |
19.48% |
Version 3.0 |
Firefox is attracting a great deal of new users in every release, it is by most ways the most popular browser as well as confirmed a record in the Guinness. |
 |
Apple Safari |
2003 |
6.98% |
- |
I would not recommend using Safari on Windows although if you’re using an Apple Computer then this would be the best choice, as it highly related by Apple users and it is spreading with the spread of Apple Technology. They also have a browser for iPhones and iPod Touch. |
 |
Chrome |
2008 |
0.26% |
Version 0.2 |
It has only been one month since this Google browser is released, and so far it has gained a lot of users in a very short period, their loading times are great. While it is still in BETA some bugs are being fixed. Chrome will eventually out-run other browsers according to future specifications of the internet predicted by chrome developers, if other browsers don’t keep up they will not even be able to cope with even loading the website content properly. |
 |
Opera |
1996 |
0.71% |
9 |
So far this is the fastest browser I have used on Windows, it loads CSS and images very quickly, and also offers it’s great facilities for Cell Phones, if you’re looking for speed only, then this is it |
So which browser should you choose? Well I’ll help you make the decision, but at the current time the only two browsers that I use are Firefox and Opera for windows. Although I do not use Apple Computers, but for them I can recommend using either Safari or Konqueror (Very highly rated). So now that you have a full-fledged idea of all browsers, their specifications and specialities, which browser would you choose and why after reading this browser comparison?

I have been unable to post recently because I have been long waiting to get a laptop, unfortunately I was not able to get one. So I gave away my old computer and got a new one which means my computer will never crash again when I put on heavy programs. Previously my computer was so out-dated that when I put on heavy programs like Adobe Photoshop, etc. my computer would take more than a 100 seconds just to start up the program and then I had to wait like a jerk while it loaded, although it did help me learn to be patient by wasting a lot of my time.
My previous computer was actually a Pentium 3 which my dad bought me in 2001, since then I was never too concerned to get a new one until it started giving me problems. It had a 933 MHZ processor, 128 MB RAM and 20 GB hard disk. A designing/developing professional can get no where with those specifications. So what I aimed for getting was at least 4 times the specifications of my previous computer. Now I have a Pentium 4 with a 2.4 GHZ processor, 512 MB RAM and 80 GB Hard Disk. I know that these specifications aren’t that much either and I should have gotten at least a core 2 duo. But to be very frank, I know I’m going to get a laptop sooner or later and I did not want to waste too much money on this computer. So these specifications are going well out for me so far.
Although I am thinking of adding another 1 GB to my RAM soon since there are 2 slots, so that will be a lot. If you’re thinking of getting a cheap computer, try to compile the whole computer yourself, when you buy the components separately they’ll be very cheap. Moreover, you’ll be able to build exactly the thing you need. Stick around and I’ll be explaining some basic components of the CPU to get started!
