It think monetizing blogs is “usually” a good idea. If you are going to spend a lot of time, energy, and resources getting it ranked in the search engines and marketing it other ways to build up the traffic then it should definitely be monetized. However, there are instances when you might have a blog for personal reasons or just to help send traffic/links to your other main blogs. In that case I see no reason why you must monetize it.

Okay, now I see what you are saying. I didn’t see that link on there before. But it still appears to be nofollow. Maybe you haven’t changed them to dofollow yet?
By the way… How do I get a link on your blogroll “links” in the sidebar? I emailed you about it a while back but never got a reply. My site is high ranking and in a very similar niche as yours so it would fit well. Let me know.

Congrats on the doubling of your traffic over the past year! I am happy you plan to post more because I come here often so more new posts would be great.
One thing that will surely increase your comments and probably traffic also would be if the link portion of the comment actually went to the persons website when clicked instead of going to the page that only shows their other comments. A little love for your commentators can go a long way.
- I Just Turned 17 - Belated Birthday Post
Happy belated birthday! You’re getting old. LOL. I am almost 30 so don’t be sad.
- The Worst Computer Virus Attack
Wow that really sucks! I am extremely paranoid of something like that happening to me so I try to stay as protected as I possibly can. I know this post was written a long time ago but it still serves as a great warning for others today.
- A Quick Update On My Exams
Good luck to you my friend. I wondered where you had been and now I know. Thanks for the explanation.

“Monetize your blog from day one!” - Absolutely agree with you. There is no point to wait for “bigger traffic”. Some blogging gurus say that your blog will look cheap with ads and without content, brand, reputation, etc. It’s just wrong. Put anything you can. AdSense is OK from the beginning. Then switch to affiliate offers. Try everything and find out what works and what doesn’t. This is the way how it should be.
I think account loss was really painful. But there are a couple of workarounds how to restore your content. One of them is Google cash. Search site:[domain] and click Cashed. Then copy-past. The trick is not ideal and very time consuming, but it works. Of course, not applicable for big websites without automation. Another one is to use RSS readers. For example, Google Reader. The idea is that posts stay in reader after deletion
closing the popup window for subscribig to your blog was a mistake few minutes back i did
but after reading about page of yours i subscribed to your blog with the email id i used for commenting
will add u on SB sites as well soon. cya
Monetizing a blog as soon as you started promoting it is a great advice. I have seen so many blogs talking about making money but too afraid to put ads on their sites.
Monetizing on your blog from your start can be a great idea but it should be done in a way that the readers can still enjoy the content without being annoyed by all the ads.
Monetizing your blog from the start is the way to go. As your blog grows, you can initiate changes to further grow your income.
I was under the same impression of brand and loyalty and blah blah, glad you posted this.
My knowledge in monetizing my blogs are not enough to sustain regarding what I know. I have noticed and red your post and it gives me a lot to learn to.
Very much appreciated and great post you’ve got here.
I agree that monetizing a blog from the start is a good move. It cost nothing (maybe few minutes of life) and benefits could be very small but also very good. It is always good to always try get the best things and not the worse.
i always was afraid to monetize my blog before but recently i have started and i can already see the advantages!
I totally agree. I have wasted months and possibly over a year to make money on the blog itself. Finally I’m getting it.

I was very afraid of Google Adsense on one of my blogs which was intended to promote an idea, and not earn money. I was afraid that people won’t take my blog seriously if they see I have adsense, dismissing all the information, thinking that it was only written for making money. I am glad to know that it is ok, although I have lost some possible income. Thank you for the advice!
