A very common mistake that most new bloggers and webmasters make regarding their blogs, although I have not really seen much of it on websites but blogs usually make this kind of a mistake of using the same META tags on all pages. Even I made this mistake when I was using Blogger. First have a look at my blog’s pages on search results before it switched to wordpress and it may have remained like this if I hadn’t seen this. Notice that the description for the first, second and fourth search results are the same, although this was the description I thought was meant to be only for the main page of the blog. The mistake is that at blogger there is only one file which is the template for the whole blog, a lot of bloggers on the internet use META tags manually on their blogs. So as those META tags come up at every page, if you had put a description META tag for the blog, search engines would think that the META description tag is meant for all the pages and will like wise use it in search results for that page which makes your blog not suitable for search engines and your website hardy comes up in search results. Now as for those using Blogger, I would say that you only use the keywords META tag with a maximum of 25 selected keywords which describe most of the things you talk about on your blog. Do not put a description META tag in any case, it is for your own good. To those who do not know how to put a Keywords tag, just put this tag before the </head> tag in your template, and separate each keyword with a comma: <META NAME=”Keywords” CONTENT=”keyword, keyword, keyword”> This should make your blog good enough for the search engines, and a maximum for what blogger users can do for SEO. I have also seen this mistake on wordpress blogs, for people using wordpress it is very simple for separate keywords and description for each page for a post. Just download and install the plugin ‘ All in one SEO’. This should make the work very easy for you. For those who have a website, just make sure that you are not using the same description and keywords META tags for all pages, this should help your blog get some traffic from search engines or at least rank a little better. Yes, this is an easy mistake to make, I did it myself before. It’s great that you are pointing this out so people don’t make this mistake themselves.
With my blog, I decided to show a description for the site on the home page and no description meta tag on any other page. Also, I don’t use the keywords meta tag since, I expect the search engine to decide the keywords that are relevant for my page.
Usually, the keywords are picked up from the title tag of the page since this is a very quick way for the search engine to match a search query to your page. Keyword lists are not very trust-worthy because they are so easy to create.
So my strategy is to include keywords in my title tags and URL, like you are doing and not use the description and keywords tags.

A very smart strategy I must say, more over it is best that you always put at least the keywords META tag on your blog’s main page, it really does help, believe me!
