There is a long story behind why it took me over 4 months to receive my first payment after I had reached the minimum adsense threshold of $100 back in 2008. It may be fairly easy for people in other countries, but it is kind of a tough job for some people in Pakistan, India and some African countries to get verified by Adsense.

Please understand that this article is not about getting approved by adsense, but about getting your approved adsense account verified in order to receive payments. Before being approved by adsense, we always think that getting approved is the toughest part. But soon we realise that the whole process is one bumpy road. :P

Once you reach the minimum payment threshold on Adsense, they send a PIN to you through the postal service to confirm your home address. Once you enter the PIN in your adsense account, your account is verified.

However, in my case, the postal service was consistently misplacing the letter containing the PIN which was quite frustrating for me. Moreover, you can only request the PIN three times, after which your account is locked.

Before requesting it for the third time, I finally contacted their support and told them of the issue. They offered me to verify my account sending them a scanned image of the identity card or utility bill, both with the payee name and address on them.

I responded to them with the scanned copy and they verified my account soon. Had I known earlier, I wouldn’t have waited so much. So, if anyone is trying to verify their account then I would recommend them to consider this option as it is much more quicker than the default method for verification.

I’m sort of glad that Google banned me (unfairly) as I was growing tired of them anyway.

They banned me in 2004 for something that I did not do. When I reapplied with the same account late 2009/early 2010 they accepted me, about six months later they booted me again, this time they told me that I was accepted by mistake. :-|

    “Accepted by mistake”?
How on earth would they accept anyone by mistake? Google’s system can be quite confusing and frustrating at times. And I remember, I was also banned by adsense in 2007. However, I kept appealing to them and then got accepted again in in 2009. Since then, my adsense has been working fine. But I’m not really using adsense that much anymore. It’s on the way out for me as well.
