A normal person like me, who sees the internet for the first time has no idea what a browser is and uses windows default browser Internet Explorer. In fact in my 7 years of online experience I have spent more than 60% using Internet Explorer. I sure knew about others as well, but had no interest in trying them out. But once I learned about more of them, I tried out the most famous one, ‘Firefox’.

Once I started using it I was like this thing is pretty fast. I knew at that time that Firefox is the best, and since then I have been using it, although I did try Chrome and Opera for a few weeks, but I believe that right now it is not in the position to compete with Firefox. Anyways according to me and the people, taking into consideration the favorites and usage, here are the top five browsers to date:

  1. Firefox
  2. Internet Explorer
  3. Apple safari
  4. Chrome
  5. Opera

Although this is the current usage, but in the mere future all I can expect is Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer in the top three. So let’s have a look at their current features and see what make them so popular:, below is web browser comparison

Name Released Usage Latest Future
Internet Explorer Internet Explorer 1995 72.22% IE 8 Since windows is in charge of handling about 3/4th of the internet users, they have very less chances of getting off the top. More over, most people buy computers with windows in it and mostly they are only fortunate enough to use IE.
Firefox Mozilla Firefox 2004 19.48% Version 3.0 Firefox is attracting a great deal of new users in every release, it is by most ways the most popular browser as well as confirmed a record in the Guinness.
Safari Apple Safari 2003 6.98% - I would not recommend using Safari on Windows although if you’re using an Apple Computer then this would be the best choice, as it highly related by Apple users and it is spreading with the spread of Apple Technology. They also have a browser for iPhones and iPod Touch.
Chrome Chrome 2008 0.26% Version 0.2 It has only been one month since this Google browser is released, and so far it has gained a lot of users in a very short period, their loading times are great. While it is still in BETA some bugs are being fixed. Chrome will eventually out-run other browsers according to future specifications of the internet predicted by chrome developers, if other browsers don’t keep up they will not even be able to cope with even loading the website content properly.
Opera Opera 1996 0.71% 9 So far this is the fastest browser I have used on Windows, it loads CSS and images very quickly, and also offers it’s great facilities for Cell Phones, if you’re looking for speed only, then this is it

So which browser should you choose? Well I’ll help you make the decision, but at the current time the only two browsers that I use are Firefox and Opera for windows. Although I do not use Apple Computers, but for them I can recommend using either Safari or Konqueror (Very highly rated). So now that you have a full-fledged idea of all browsers, their specifications and specialities, which browser would you choose and why after reading this browser comparison?

Chrome is so promising! Actually it’s so fast, the only thing that is missing is the add-ons like that of FireFox.

I prefer Firefox now. It’s a bit slower that IE on my PC, but has way better features, and I had some problems with some of the add-ons I had installed on IE.

I prefer chrome, mainly due to the raw speed. Most of my blogs readers use Firefox though because they are all quite web-savvy and love their plug ins and add-ons.

So far I use firefox, that’s the best in my mind because of all the excellent plugins. However, because Chrome is Google, I’m sure it will out grow the others in a short period of time. I’ll have to start preparing to switch.

Do not use Google Chrome until you very carefully read the EULA and understand what it means.

What’s the point in reading it, I never read the EULA of any program I’ve used to date, just search a little on it to check if there is nothing creepy in it!
